These are just some examples of the many events that have been held at Body of Wisdom.  This writing workshop was special because it was the first!  And here are some pictures from The ”Julie and Julia”  Book Club/Dinner Club held last summer, we had so much fun as you can see!

Julie and Julie - Book Club/Dinner Club

When women gather to share their experiences through writing, voice, movement, eating and ritual something magical happens.  Together they learn to value their struggles and celebrate their strengths. To write and speak from the heart, at once personal and universal, is rich and intimate.

Beginning, intermediate and advanced writers are welcome. Class is limited to 12 people.

The workshop will provide:

  • a beautiful, safe, and creative environment to support you,
  • a way for you to discover your voice and claim your expressive freedom,
  • a means to trust your own inner wisdom,
  • an opportunity for you to discover and share your experiences if you choose,
  • music, pictures, objects, nature and guided imagery in which to respond,
  • individual body awareness through breathing, meditation, yoga and energy movement,
  • and wholesome, nutritious meals.

Retreat Leaders:

Mary Tuchscherer, MA is trained in the Amherst Writers and Artists method of writing and is an adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University. She leads writing workshops and retreats that support people to value their experience through story.

Mary Meloy, MA is the owner/operator of Body of Wisdom and is a preventative/holistic health care specialist working in the areas of body movement, weight management, eating problems, and stress and pain management.

“Voices from the Heartland” was a huge success!  Thanks to Mary Tuchscherer and all the terrific participants and helpers.  During this one day workshop we shared our stories, a few great meals, a seasonal meditative walk and a yoga session.  Our written stories were amazing and we learned to listen and take care of ourselves.  Some of the participants remarked that they had never experienced anything like it before!

Here’s some more pictures from the  Julie and Julia – Book Club/Dinner Club!As you can see, it was quite hilarious……

I was trying to imitate Julia Child - notice the chicken and knife!

There’s was some blood!

Lori, my wonderful assistant!

and, some bewilderment!

Ingredients!

But, much attention!!

Oh, cleared out?  You mean after all that blood, I mean ketchup!

Where'd everyone go?
Fun group of women!
