Last Thursday’s Event – Savoring Words Barcelona!

Apr022012

Perhaps you were out and about last Thursday evening on March 29th, protesting and manifesting in Spain’s general strike?  Or, maybe you decided to stay in and shelter yourself from the storm?  Some of us, rather brave and courageous women attended the first ever “Savoring Words Barcelona” which was held at the beautiful Barcelona Well Woman Clinic.

The seasonal book club/dinner club event featured Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously.   Along with serving a French menu of Beef Bourguignon, Spring peas, a Chevre Salad, baguettes of French bread and French wine and Creme Brulee; we shared and discussed the book and/or movie, watched demonstrations of recipes, and learned more about nutrition. You can view some pictures from this great event to get a better idea of how much fun it truly was, despite the outside turmoil….

French wine and cheese!

Reserved your place at the table, while you looked thru the pamphlet and book mark made just for you ….

Feasted on a Chevre Salad!

And served you Beef Bourguignon too!

Thank you, Mirelle!

Sat and discussed some more…..

While we talked and demonstrated about spring peas and honored Julia Child….lamenting  that ”All women should own a blow torch!”

and heard Carrie sing a lovely French song to end the evening…….

Merci Beaucoup! Carrie, Uby, Rebecka, Lezanne, Pirkko, Rebecca, Ashley (:,  Catherine, and Mirelle!

Looks like those who braved and got through the protesters reaped a great reward! Next time I’ll make it – a group of women enjoying good food, wine, and conversation looks perfect.

Thank you Mary for organizing such a delicious and delightful event! And thank you all for being there to have those inspiring conversations. Going home was easier than getting there – the smell of burned rubbish lingering in the air, and people minding their own business rather quietly.

Thanks Pirkko! Loved you being there! Hopefully next time (June 19th) we can all go home with the smell of good healthy food lingering in our body, mind and spirit!
